On the beach for 6.30am to catch the tides and get a session in before work.

Wind was fine when I got there so rigged the 6.3m North Warp and was going to go out on my Speed Board. Dave and Sarah came down too and rigged 5m sails, but the wind eased off as I was about to get on the water.

There was nothing on the beach except the occasion 12 knot gust so I put the bigger (80 ltr) board on and gave it a go on that. there was more wind on the water and it felt fine in the gusts, but there were still some big lulls in which I was unable to get going.

It did start filling in a little though so things picked up and I had some nice runs across pretty flat water. Dave and Sarah joined me and we all had a good blast around the estuary.

I was being a little wry though as the water was draining fast and it was becoming very shallow over the sandbanks, but it was difficult to tell where exactly they were.

The wind wasn't quite strong enough or in the right direction for any proper speed runs either. I then dropped a gybe out in the channel with the water rushing out. My sail got caught in the rip and it was difficult to release and get it flying with the fast moving water pinning it down. Eventually I got it flying but as I did so my wedding ring fell off (The perils of weight loss).

There was no chance of retrieving it but I did mark my position with my GPS and as a long shot will walk around the area at low tide.

A fairly good sail but somewhat ruined by the loss of my wedding ring.
